SADP has developed a suite of Board approved policies that govern our day to day operations and reflect the values and principles of our organization. Many of these policies were derived through extensive consultation with community groups and local NGOs. We listened when people told us they wanted funders to practice what we preach, consequently, we have developed strong environmental and resource policies. These policies are regularly reviewed and updated as more is learned or circumstances change. We would like to share some of our key policy commitments.
The SADP Grant Making Strategy, Principles and Procedures Policy defines our funding criteria and outlines the procedures for our grant making. Our policy aims to prevent conflict of interest and incorporates a complaint mechanism.
The SADP Finance Policy is based on principles of accountability and efficiency through appropriate control mechanisms. As a grant maker in a Region where weak finance management systems abetting corruption and embezzlement of funds proliferate the SADP Finance Policy strives to mitigate any such concerns held by our stakeholders. Our credibility is our foundation and is enshrined in our values of accountability and honesty so subsequently SADP has procedures in place allowing us to demonstrate that SADP is an exemplary grant maker. We conduct quarterly internal audits, invite external US-standard (GAAP) annual global audits and regularly invite external assessment of our finance systems.
The SADP Staff Policy emphasizes our commitment to an environment of respect, honesty, equity, learning, empowerment and participatory decision-making. These principles reflect our approach to collaborative partnerships, mutual learning and capacity building.
SADP is committed to adhering to a strict Child Protection Policy. The policy provides a framework for managing and reducing the risks of all forms of child abuse and ensures that all children involved with SADP programs and activities are protected from abuse and exploitation.
